Marriage: A Covenant Between a Man and a Woman… and God
AUDIO: Listen to the audio version of this post HERE.
Mark 10:6-9 (VOICE)
6 But truly, God created humans male and female in the beginning. 7 As it is written in the Hebrew Scriptures, “For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother [to marry his wife], 8 and the two of them will become one flesh and blood.” So they are no longer two people, but one. 9 What God has joined together in this way, no one may sever.
Why is divorce such a popular option in our society today? It is certainly not in God’s Plan for our society. However, selfishness is the norm of the day and wins out, …even in our marriages. In the Bible, Ephesians 5:25 says that a husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. Christ does not separate Himself from the Church. We find the wife mentioned in Titus 2:4, in regards to loving her husband.
1 Cor 7:4 (VOICE) says:
In marriage neither the husband nor the wife should act as if his or her body is private property—your bodies now belong to one another, and together they are whole.
If it is established that selfishness has no place within a marriage, why then do so many marriages (even within the Church) fall victim to divorce? Maybe the answer lies more in a greater misunderstanding of our spouse and how their brain operates. Mark Grungor discusses this phenomenon in his hilarious video lesson, “A Tale of Two Brains”[a]. In the video, Mark states that there is no “poo free” marriage and why unconditional love requires conditions. He talks about single taskers vs multi taskers and how to get a man to do what you want. Mark reveals why women are often so discouraged and let down in a relationship. Mark also encourages the men to “go back for the girl”.
I HIGHLY recommend to you, my readers, that you watch the embedded video below in its entirety–even if you need to break it up into sections and listen to it while doing other tasks. I promise that IT WILL BE WELL WORTH YOUR TIME!!
