2 Corinthians 5:21 (GNT)
Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made him share our sin in order that in union with him we might share the righteousness of God.
Jesus was sinless; He was the spotless Lamb of God who was sacrificed to give us Life. Yet, many Christians live as though they take Christ’s sacrifice for granted. Each thorn that pierced His brow, every sharp piece of bone from the ends of the whip that cut into His flesh, each hair that was plucked from His beard, every splinter from the wooden Cross in Christ’s torn and ragged back… they all could be viewed (metaphorically) as a representation of our sin.
Christ endured so much pain and suffering… and that was BEFORE the spiritual separation from the Father, as Christ embodied sin for us as He hung on the Cross! How then can we so casually sin and think, “Oh, God understands” or “I’ll get just ask for forgiveness and get right after the fact”? I plucked the hair from His beard… I beat the crown of thorns upon His head… I hammered the nails into His hands and feet… it was MY sin!
Can YOU still go on and just live casually, with Christ suffering for YOUR indiscretions? Commit to the LORD to keep Him the focus of your actions.
