Trust Your Training

Philippians 1:6 (VOICE)
I am confident that the Creator, who has begun such a great work among you, will not stop in mid-design but will keep perfecting you until the day Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King, returns to redeem the world.
In yesterday’s Sunday morning service, Pastor Sweeney used a football metaphor (as a snippet of his sermon) to talk about trusting your training and being in position when God’s “pass” comes your way. Too often, we can be become discouraged because it seems that we’ve been “running play after play” without seeing God’s answer to our prayer or His promised blessing or His vision placed inside of us come into fruition. We may slow down or even “alternate our route” to try to make things happen, but (just like professional football) God’s Plan is all about timing. When God does “throw up the pass”, we are out of position and it falls incomplete. It may be the very next play or several more plays before God tries to meet us “at the top of our route”, but we have to be in position and ready to receive.
(Note: See last Sunday’s blog post, “In Your Position; In God’s Time” for a parallel thought.)
How about you? Have you become discouraged, perhaps even to the point of giving up, in not seeing God’s “passes” come your way? You may have just allowed the enemy to trip you up a step or two prior to completing your “pass”… maybe even given up an interception. From this point, make an effort (and ask the LORD for His help) to trust in your spiritual training and to continue to run the route God has assigned you!
