I Am a Young Missionary’s Son

I Am a Young Missionary’s Son

I am a young missionary’s son,
And, although I may be young,
God has many plans to use me,
Which, for some, may hold eternity.
With life barely begun,
I am a young missionary’s son.

God may take us across the sea
To answer a foreign people’s plea
To hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
How He alone was sin’s only sacrifice
That many souls might be won;
I am a young missionary’s son.

God may even keep us in the States;
Only the one who eagerly waits
Upon God for His definite call
Will be able to be used of the Lord at all.
Ready or not this race to run,
I am a young missionary’s son.

I will have a very important part
In keeping this ministry from falling apart;
To my father, my attitude may be encouraging,
But also may be found discouraging.
In times of both sorrow and fun,
I am a young missionary’s son.

I will be leaving many friends behind,
But, praise God, He gives peace of mind.
When I am down and feeling alone, you see,
His grace will be sufficient for me.
With fifty friends or just the One,
I am a young missionary’s son.

God may call me to the mission field
With this glorious Gospel ready to wield.
I could be a second generation missionary
Ready to go wherever God deems necessary
For His holy, divine work to be done;
I am a young missionary’s son.
